this is part of my creative writing series, where i share the raw, untamed practices that have shaped my own writing process. if you want to know more about why i started this series and what it’s all about, you can read the introduction here.
writing, for me, has never been about just putting words on a page. it has been about opening a door to something bigger than myself. about stepping out of the mind’s neat, logical rooms and into the wild, moonlit field of the subconscious. about letting the body speak in a language older than grammar.
this piece is about how to write like a ghost is speaking through you. how to slip past the ego and access the voice that is waiting beneath. how to use dream journaling, automatic writing, and intuitive storytelling to tap into the deep, untamed well of what wants to be written through you.
this is not about controlling the story.
this is about surrendering to it.
if you have ever felt like something holy is knocking on the walls of your ribs, asking to be let in—
this is for you.
there is a voice inside you that does not belong to time.
a voice older than your name,
older than your skin,
older than the hands
that built the house you were born in.
it does not speak in full sentences.
it does not care about grammar.
it does not belong to the you
that makes grocery lists
or responds to emails
or remembers to pay the gas bill.
it belongs to the you that dreams in symbols,
that writes in riddles,
that wakes up breathless at 3 am
because something holy is knocking
on the door of your ribs,
begging to be let in.
this is how you write
like a ghost is speaking through you.
this is how you let the unconscious
step forward,
how you pull words out of the deep,
how you become a vessel for the voice
that is trying to find its way back
to your tongue.
